Dylan Thomas 4/5 to take on seven rivals at King Georges
Dylan Thomas will face a maximum of seven rivals, including two stablemates, in this weekends King George & Queen Elizabeth stakes at Ascot.
Aidan O’Brien’s Irish Derby winner was trimmed to a shade of odds on for the first time, on Monday afternoon by William Hill, having been 7-2 just 10 days ago with the same firm.
Hills also adjusted Scorpion’s price and the former St Leger winner is now Hill’s 7-2 second favourite having started the day at 8-1.
Hills spokesman Ben Clarke added: “With Authorized and Soldier Of Fortune both confirmed non runners we are going to be denied the mouth-watering clash between two of the best three year olds in training and some of the more talented older horses but we are still left with something of a teaser that sees the Hardwicke first and second take each other on again.
Scorpion was all the rage in the betting on that occasion but Maraahel is a game performer when infront and it will be interesting to see if punters looking to oppose the short priced favourite opt for Sir Michael Stoute’s charge over the former St Leger winner.”

Beckham & Dettori - Get 8/1 on this whopping double
With David Beckham returning for England against Brazil, and Frankie Dettori riding the favourite for the Derby, bookmakers William Hill are predicting a £150million gambling frenzy over the weekend.
And punters are backing the two most glamorous men in their respective sports to give the bookies a mega-million kicking: ‘Thousands of punters reckon that this weekend will see Beckham and Dettori hit the headlines and our special offer of 8/1 Beckham to score against Brazil and Dettori to win the Derby for the first time ever has set the tills jingling.
‘So, if Becks cracks in one of his trademark free-kicks against Brazil and then Frankie wins the Derby for the first time, we’ll be facing up to a mega million payout.
They’ve both got ‘previous’ when it comes to inflicting pain on bookies - Becks for everything from his haircuts to his free-kicks, and Frankie for his Ascot Magnificent Seven which nearly put the bookmaking industry out of business ten years ago.’ said Hill’s spokesman Graham Sharpe.
HOW MANY GOALS WILL ENGLAND SCORE AGAINST BRAZIL AND ESTONIA?
William Hill have opened a book on how many goals England will score in their two matches against Brazil and Estonia - and make THREE their 9/4 favourite, alos offering 11/4 four; 10/3 two; 5/1 five or more; 13/2 one; 14/1 none.
And Hills are also betting on how many they concede in the two games combined and make one 23/10 favourite; two 12/5; none 5/2; 3 or more 3/1.
BECKHAM SLASHED FROM 12/1 to 11/10 TO PLAY IN PREMIERSHIP THIS YEAR
William Hill, who had been quoting David Beckham at 12/1 to play in a competitive Premiership game during 2007 have slashed that price to 11/10 (4/6 not to) after LA Galaxy seemed to soften their stance on possible loan deals. Hills also offer him at 5/6 to do so during 2008 and 5/6 not to.
‘Beckham-bets-mania – some might say collective hysteria - has arrived with punters desperate to back Beckham to play in the Premiership again in 2007 or 2008’ said William Hill spokesman Graham Sharpe.
‘And they seem to believe he is a shoo-in for 100 caps’
Following Beckham’s recall to the England squad, William Hill have also had to cut the odds about him reaching his century of caps after persistent support to do so – from 7/4 to 4/7. He is 5/4 not to.
Hills have also had to shorten Beckham from 1/3 to 1/6 to start the game against Estonia and now go 7/2 that he will not, while he is now down to 5/6 from 3/1 to be named in the squad for the Euro 08 finals and 5/6 from 2/9 not to.
‘An alien arriving from space for the match might justifiably be forgiven for believing that David Beckham arrived shortly before him from another planet, and hadn’t recently been discarded from the squad following disappointing campaigns in both the World Cup and Euro 04’ said Hill’s spokesman Graham Sharpe.
‘Perhaps we should offer odds about him getting the role of Superman, too, when the next movie is cast!’
Beckham is 4/1 to play any part in England’s 2010 World Cup qualifying campaign, 1/7 not to.
BECKHAM is 10/1 to score from a free kick against Brazil with Hills;
12/1 to score the first goal against Brazil;
25/1 to be sent off;
125/1 to score a hat trick.
Beckham is 1/2 to play the whole game against Brazil,
6/4 not to;
10/1 to score the first goal;
4/1 to score at any time,
1/7 not to (assuming he starts).
Despite Steve McClaren confirming that John Terry will remain captain, Hills are offering 6/5 that Beckham will wear the armband at any stage of the Euro 08 qualifying campaign; 8/13 that he will not.
WILL OLD SKIPPER OUTDO CURRENT SKIPPER?
William Hill have put together a performance market for the England - Brazil game, matching current skipper John Terry against former.
Basing the market on PA statistics, Hills will award 10pts for scoring; five for a shot/header on target; 1 for each minute spent on the pitch; and will deduct 10 for a booking; 25 for a red card and five for each foul committed.
Hills make Beckham 4/6 favourite, with Terry 9/5 and a tie 5/1.
‘It is interesting to try to compare their likely performances - you’d expect Beckham to have more goal efforts but Terry might be more likely to play out the full ninety minutes’ said Hill’s spokesman Graham Sharpe.

Archipenko Derby odds being slashed to 14-1 from 50-1

Archipenko, the impressive winner of the Derrinstown Stud Derby Trial on Sunday that resulted in his odds for the Vodafone Derby being slashed to 14-1 from 50-1, was the only market mover on an otherwise quiet Tuesday following news that Aidan O’Brien expects the Kingmambo colt to improve significantly.
With a team of leading contenders at his mercy O’Brien is expected to send Archipenko straight to Epsom, in a bid to secure the Ballydoyle trainer his third victory in the Classic.
Punters were quick to latch onto the information forcing William Hill to trim Archipenko’s price from 14-1 to 12-1 for the Vodafone sponsored race.

Betfred - Punter wins Scoop 6 jackpot twice!
The mystery male punter won £161,610.30 on Saturday’s (March 24) six races after placing his £2 bet in one of Fred’s 650 shops. He now gets the chance to win over £463,000 on next week’s bonus race.
This latest success story from the world’s biggest independent bookmaker follows hot on the heels of recent winner Agnes Haddock, who won £688,610 by winning the Scoop 6 and the bonus race.
Betfred created the world’s first betting shop millionaire in 2004 when Stuart Bolland pocketed over seven figures by winning the jackpot.
Betfred`s Managing Director John Haddock said: “This is unbelievable. We must be the luckiest chain of bookmakers in the country for this bet as far as the punters are concerned.
“Everyone at Betfred will be rooting for the customer in next week`s bonus race, just as we were for Aggie a few weeks ago.
