Colts to retain super bowel

Posted in American Football by info on the March 1st, 2007

Sporting Odds make Indianapolis 6/1 for a super bowl repeat in 2008 following their win over Chicago in Miami.

The Colts recovered from conceding a touchdown straight from the kick-off to beat the Bears 29-17 at Dolphin Stadium and are second favourites to defend the title in Arizona next year.

San Diego head the market at 11/2 while Chicago are joint 10/1 third favourites with New England and Cincinnati to go one better.

New Orleans come next at 12/1 ahead of 14/1 Philadelphia, 16/1 Baltimore and 20/1 Dallas, Denver, Pittsburgh, Seattle and Carolina.

Indianapolis had been 7pt favourites on the pre-game handicaps while the Bears’ Devin Hester, who got the match off to an explosive start with a 92-yard kick-off return, was as big as 25/1 at Sky Bet to score the first Touchdown.

Quarter-back Peyton Manning was a well-backed favourite to win the MVP and landed an Even Money payout for his supporters by guiding the Colts to victory.

Superbowl betting – Indianapolis Colts vs Chicago Bears

Posted in American Football by info on the February 1st, 2007

The super bowl comes to a conclusion on Sunday, a classic fight between two teams that haven’t came close the Lombardi Trophy in the past couple of decades. An epic battle between a beast that redefines the linebacker position and a clean-cut charmer who’s shattering every Quarterback record.

This years betting on the super bowl is a little more overwhelming experience than in past years. Bodog is currently setting the line at the Colts by 7, which is about what is available everywhere The money line is heavily favouring the Colts, so if you think Chicago can pull it off, a wager on Chicago nets you +195 on the money line. That means that if Chicago wins, you get £95 profit for every £100 you wager. The over/under is at 48 1/2 points.

If Peyton is on and the Colts have an answer for Urlacher and the Bears defence, it’s going to turn into a shootout. Grossman throws the deep ball very well, so there’s no real sense betting the under unless you believe that these two defences are going to totally stifle the opposition. This wouldn’t be too bad a bet if you look at how the Colts defence has performed in the playoffs.
