South Africa in to 7/2

Posted in Cricket by info on the March 29th, 2007

South Africa and Sri Lanka have switched places in the betting for the Cricket World Cup following the Proteas’ latest victory.Graeme Smith’s side sealed a nervy one wicket win despite Lasith Malinga taking four wickets in an incredible four balls - and South Africa are now 7/2 from 9/2 with their opponents out to 5/1 from 4/1.

The Aussies who saw off the West Indies in a 103 run victory, are 6/5 from 5/4 with the home nation now 10/1 from 8/1.

Ladbrokes spokesman Robin Hutchison said: “South Africa were sweating and so were we - their opponents were a £100,000 loser for us.

He also added : “The Proteas are in reasonable shape, but the Aussies are beginning to look ominous.”

“Fletcher has done an enormous amount for English cricket and despite a disappointing trip to Australia his position looks strong as far as we are concerned, said Hills spokesman Rupert Adams.
